My interest in woodworking dates back to my childhood. At various points in my career, I have worked as a wood-turner, cabinetmaker, furniture builder and stringed instrument and piano builder. The roots of Seraphim Urns date back to 1997, when I was asked to create a funeral urn by a woman whose young son had died after a life-long illness. By working closely with this bereaved mother I was able to respond to her requests for certain design features, including shape, type of wood and even the crowning touch of an illuminated finial. The resulting cremation urn was a unique tribute to the boy and consolation to his grateful mother. It was this burial urn that became the model for the Seraphim logo.
Since then, I have created a number of custom made, hand-turned funeral urns, each based on the principle of individuality-that each person brings to life inimitable gifts that can be commemorated in cremation urn design.
